The Center for Christ & Culture is a ministry of discipleship and Church renewal that works to equip Christians with an intelligent, missional, and thoroughly Christian
approach to matters of culture.
Tectonic shifts have taken place both in American culture and the Church and the old methods of social reform and cultural engagement have simply failed. The evidence indicates that religious, social and cultural movements of the future will be small, streamlined and focused on shifting individual choices by introducing and encouraging the adoption of new ideas and new ways of thinking. For us, that means recovering historic Christian truths in a postmodern context—it means pressing “good” ideas over and against “bad” ideas beginning with the Church and how it understands and executes its mission in the world.
The 20th century model of building large institutions that garner resources (financial) for the purposes of exercising coercive cultural influence have failed and to some extent contributed further to the marginalization of the Church. The passion of this ministry is to help the Body of Christ recover the broader historic understanding of what it means to be a follower of Christ, take seriously its responsibility to cultivate a consciously Christian understanding of all of life and reality--then live out and press that truth into every aspect of life and culture in an intelligent, loving way that brings glory and honor to Christ. S. Michael Craven, through serious research, writing, speaking and teaching works at empowering individual choices that produce incremental and real change that honors Christ in our culture.
